Great. I've never been able to reread White Night because that was the book that drove home that gay guys were going to portrayed as a joke at best and bi women and lesbians were going to be portrayed in an uncomfortably fetishistic manner, and have frequently wished he could handle non European cultures better. I still tend to recommend it with some reservations because I really like some elements in Death Masks, Dead Beat and Small Favor. I might have to revisit the full series before I do so again, though. [I own the first Codex Alera book, but it keeps sliding to the bottom of my to-read pile, so I can't comment.] That said, about Tanya Huff -- I've read the Blood Books, the Smoke Books, and a handful of her short stories, and I'm interested in reading more, but I'm not quite sure where to go from there. The Fire's Stone, which looks really interesting, appears to be out of print. Is there anything you'd particularly recommend?
